Asked Questions
about Refinishing? |
How do I get started?
Call 800-773-7336 and sign up for our Tub University
refinishing training school. Also consult our Training services page on
this website for more information and details. We also have a do-it-yourself Kit. Click Tub Refinishing Kit to

How do I apply these coatings?
These
coatings are two part coatings, base and catalyst, and are best applied
with HVLP, high velocity low pressure, spray equipment. Best
manufacturers are Graco and Wagner/SprayTech.
We are distributors for Graco. These coatings do NOT produce their best
results when either 'rolled on' or 'sprayed through conventional spray
equipment'. This
equipment can be easily RENTED for around $35 for do-it-yourself, DIY,
jobs. Finally, we have produced a Do-It-Yourself video that shows in more
detail the spray equipment and proper spray techniques. Click here for How
to Procedures or to
order the do-it-yourself video for $19.95 plus
freight.
Why should I consider bathtub refinishing rather than
replacement? First of all, to replace something you MUST
first tear our the old items. When considering the cost of replacement you must consider
tear out, cost of replacement item, labor for installation, not to mention the mess and
time it will take. For example, normal costs for replacing a bathtub range from $1,500 -
$3,000 and will usually take one and a half to two weeks to complete. Refinishing takes
less than one day and will save at least 70% vs. replacement.
What bathroom and kitchen
fixtures and surfaces can be refinished? Our EP-Acrylic refinishing system
works beautifully on: porcelain bathtubs, sinks, fiberglass shower enclosures, pedestal
sinks, ceramic tile, Formica countertops, claw foot tubs, plastic tubs, oven doors,
refrigerators, dishwashers, kitchen cabinets, cultured marble counter tops, shower pans,
bathroom floors, and various fiberglass and acrylic surfaces.
Will my bathtub or counter top look painted?
Definitely NOT. You probably will not be able to tell the
difference between a New bathtub and refinished one. Refinishing will make that old
chipped, stained, or color-dated item look "New" again.
What is the
EP-Acrylic "Refinishing System"? EP-Acrylic is a high performance acrylic polymer coating
specifically designed for refinishing porcelain, fiberglass, Formica, and other surfaces
with a high gloss, long-lasting, hard finish. EP-Acrylic has been on the market for over
10 years and is the coating of choice for over 250 refinishers.
It also ISOCYANATE FREE and
safer for the environment.
How long will it take?
One of the key benefits of refinishing is that it can usually
be completed in less than one day. Our refinished bathtubs can be used in 24 hours and are
fully cured in 48 hours.
How do I clean and maintain my refinished fixture?
We recommend Miracle Cleaner, a
specially designed cleaner made for the refinished fixtures. This strong but non-abrasive
cleaner will safely keep your fixture clean without dulling the gloss like any abrasive
cleaner will do.
What if my bathtub or counter top is damaged?
Small chips and cracks can be repaired during the cleaning and
preparation stage of refinishing. Your technician will inform you if the chip or cracks
cannot be repaired prior to refinishing your fixture.
How long will it last?
A bathroom or kitchen fixture refinished with EP-Acrylic should
easily last 10 to 15 years or longer with proper care and maintenance. Again, we recommend
using Miracle Cleaner for maintaining your refinished surface. |
